March 2026. The full notification—detailing eligibility, zone-specific
vacancies, and reservations—will appear on official RRB sites prior to

Eligibility Age Limit: 18 to 30 years on 1 July 2026.
Various age relaxations include 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years

Educational Qualification: Based on previous cycles,
candidates have to pass the 10th Standard/SSLC + ITI (NCVT/SCVT) trade courses
as specified in CEN 01/2026. Possessing a 3-year diploma course or B.E/B.Tech
degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, and Automobile Engineering will
be eligible too.
Physical Fitness Standards: Should meet the A-1 category as
per railway norms, i.e., physical fitness and vision criteria determined by
Railway Board.
Fee Structure for ALP Application at RRB
General / OBC: ₹500
SC / ST / Female / Ex-Servicemen / Transgender / Minorities
/ EBC / PwBD: ₹250
NOTE: Unreserved and OBC candidates receive reimbursement of
₹400 after appearing in CBT 1. For all other categories, entire amount of ₹250
is refunded after CBT 1.
Selection Procedure for ALP
Cross these steps in succession to progress:
Stage 1: CBT 1 (Computer-Based Test)
75 MCQs in Math, Reasoning, General Science, and Current
Affairs (60 minutes). Negative marking is 1/3rd. It's merely qualifying—not
meritorious.
Stage 2: CBT 2 (Computer-Based Test)
Part A: 100 questions in Math, Reasoning, Basic Science/Engineering,
Current Affairs (90 minutes).
Part B: 75 trade-related questions (60 minutes; 35% is the
passing score).
Negative marking is 1/3rd. Only Part A will be meritorious.
Stage 3: CBAT ((Computer-Based Aptitude Test)
Tests cognitive abilities, judgment, and decision-making in
ALP responsibilities. There is no negative marking; 42 is the minimum score.
Merit calculation: 70% CBT 2 Part A + 30% CBAT.
Stage 4: Document Verification and Medical Examination
Candidates who qualify for shortlisting have their documents
verified and undergo railway medical examination.
Step-by-step Guide to Applying for RRB ALP 2026
Apply through authorized websites of RRBs. Get ready with
mobile/email number, Aadhaar card, and certificates ahead of time. Apply to only
one RRB; multiple applications result in rejection.
Step 1: Click on CEN 01/2026 ALP at the website.
Step 2: Register with your name, DOB, mobile number, email
ID, and Aadhaar; save your credentials.
Step 3: Login and enter personal data, educational information,
and contact info; select only one zone of RRB.
Step 5: Pay fee through credit/debit card/net
